Ivory Blanks

A scrimshaw "blank" is flat (F) and a cabochon has a slight domed surface (D). The domed "cabs" (as we call them) look exceptionally fine in a setting and are well worth the extra money; we highly recommend them. Both the cabs and blanks are approximately 1/8" thick, polished to a glassy finish and ready for scrimshaw. Prices shown are for creamy vintage crack free African elephant ivory. For mammoth and light color fossil walrus ivory, the price is 50% higher for small to medium sizes; please inquire for price and availability. Walrus ivory has a core of secondary dentine as seen in several of the cabs below--it looks like petrified tapioca or ivory burl. If you require dark fossil ivories please inquire, we have gem grade that is too dark/colorful for scrimshaw but spectacular for jewelry as is. We do custom cabochon cutting, so if you need a particular size/shape not seen, please inquire. All cab and blank sizes are given in millimeters; 25mm equals an inch.

SF55 IVORY PENDANTS WITH GOLD FILLED & STERLING SILVER RIMS - We take our domed ivory cabachons, put a slight bevel around the back edge and set them in 14 karat gold filled or sterling silver cinch mounts that securely hold the ivory and look great. Complete with a gold filled or sterling bail; just add scrimshaw and the cord or chain. Also available with mammoth ivory and mammoth bark cabachons at a slightly higher price.
