This fascinating Eskimo art predating the influences of the Yankee whalers arrival in the Arctic in the mid 1800's. Rich depictions of hunting, fishing, shamanistic ceremonies and village scenes. Although primitive in form this fascinating early stick figure artwork is extremely powerful and has a universal appeal. This pictograph artwork has been hand engraved in the old style on a genuine 500-3000 year old walrus ivory Eskimo Artifact excavated on St Lawrence Island. It was unearthed by a descendant a depicting a pictorial history of village life as well as the partial artifact of a hand adz that the pictographs have been scrimshawed on. 4" long.  Fossil whale bone.
