Vintage Pre 1972 Walrus Skull, Tusks and Jaw

Description

A complete and massively large bull walrus skull and tusks with the jaw bone.  These are rare because it was and still is so much more difficult to clean a full skull than just a sawed off nose plate so it was rarely done, also skulls can not easily be displayed on a wall like a nose plate/mask that is flat on the back side.  That being said skulls are way cooler than just nose plates, like the difference between a skull plate with antlers or a skull with antlers. The jaw is massive and 6 1/2 pounds, it does not have  teeth but the teeth do not show anyway when the jaw is in place.  The tusks are large 2 1/2" diameter 21" long with 15" exposed out of the skull but not long as they have been greatly worn (from considerable clam digging).  This displays nicely on the floor, looks kinda prehistoric-$4,200.  Free shipping, U.S. sales only.

All the walrus masks we sell are from the 1900’s and are being reintroduced into the market, they are decades old, always purchased in the lower 48 from previous owners. We do not buy any of these in Alaska where they are still being hunted for food. Some of ours are pre 1972 and others have native Alaskan scrimshaw, both are legal to buy and sell. No one is hunting walrus to supply us with these; they are all “recycled”.
