Pre 1972 Vintage White Walrus Tusk Tip (A)
In the mid to late 1800’s American whaling ships in the Arctic would trade with the natives and obtain walrus tusks which usually came in pairs. The pairs were kept together by drilling a hole in the tip off each tusk and stringing them together, the pairs of tusks were then hung below deck. This tusk tip came from one of those old tusks. 6 1/2" tall x 15/16 " - 1 11/16" " dia at bottom . Suitable for handles, carvings, scrimshaw or other cool projects. This is a beautiful tip. Color is more tan than yellow.
