1911 COMPACT/OFFICERS Model Pre-1972 Walrus Ivory Grips (OM01)-NEW!

Description

Officers/Compact Model Pre-1972 Walrus Ivory available with standard butt cut only. The panel on the left shows very little of the unique ivory burl core (secondary dentine) which is unique to walrus ivory, the right panel displays more.  Walrus ivory has interior fissures and cracks. Not commonly used outside of native Alaskan carving and scrimshaw, we have a few sets made with pre 1972 walrus ivory, these are especially rare in white ivory.  We recommend putting these on a show gun rather that an every day shooter, these cannot be replaced. Shown with Swirl Screws (not included), order seperately.

All of our ivory grips have been stabilized and are guaranteed against breakage for life!  If your not satisfied with these grips, simply return them unaltered within 30 days and we will cheerfully refund your money, issue a credit or make an exchange, your choice. Please include invoice copy.

Handmade from our very limited stock of vintage ivory tusks from walrus that died before 1972.  This ivory predates the Marine Mammal Protection Act and is legal for non-natives (us) to work with.  We have bought tusks from individuals that contact us from the lower 48 states (not Alaska) that own or have inherited them and are certain that the age predates the 1972 marine Mammal Protection Act, we have very limited stock.
