This is a lab created material that is unlike and superior to any other simulated, imitation or faux ivory because it has varying vertical grain AND end grain that looks just like elephant ivory.   Every set is unique and takes a very high polish just like elephant ivory.  It is an evolved technology product of the 21st century and is an quantum upgrade compared to the "French Ivory" of the 19th century and even the Tru Ivory of 20 years ago.  It is more expensive because of the involved manufacturing process but if you want the very best elephant ivory look this is it.  Here is a customers report, we have heard this repeatedly: "The simulated ivory grips were good but the most impressive item is the American ivory grips! I have never seen anything so close in appearance to real ivory. These grips will vary slightly in the grain pattern (picture is an example of this material) and fit most full sized frames such as Colt, Springfield, Taurus, Smith and Wesson, Les Baer, Ruger, Wilson, Kimber full size, pro-custom or ultra-plus and Others.
