Mammoth Tusk Section with spectacular ivory pattern and grain recovered in the Yukon, this piece is 4” - 4 5/8" tall, the top measurement across is 3 7/16"  x 3 1/4"  It has split on the bottom which can be filled or separated. Layers are commonly found in mammoth ivory.  The outside surface is dark with blue highlights, the inside is a creamy ivory color with darker starburst pattern areas around the rim.  The hollow goes through from top to bottom tapering with the bottom being thicker. This is a spectacularly beautiful piece. Good for scrimshaw possible slabbing for jewelry, unique box or pen holder and other small projects. Beautiful bark with creamy interior color.
